Log

log 1
  1. The book in which this record is kept
Have you ever embarked on an exercise regime or diet/eating program? In fact, anything where you expect to make some kind of progress in an aspect of life, or a discipline of study?
One of the last bullet points in the comments section of these programmes is almost invevitable: "keep a log book to record your progress"
Well, I am a man of vast and disparate interests. In almost all of these fields, I wish to improve, in fact I have no clearly defined goal in any of them, merely the desire to be continuously improving.
In my job, I would like to acquire more skills: Project management, programming, data base administration, excel spreadsheet wizardry. Soft skills such as expertise and experience in my current business environment.
I am a scuba diver. Currently the highest level of certification I have is Rescue Diver, with PADI.
I want to improve! THe next step is Dive master, which opens up many opportunities for sponsored adventures. After that, instructor. And after that? Well, the clever people at PADI have created an almost infinite array of other courses, which you dont really need to do, but peer pressure and coolness factor inevitably result in you will forking out the ridiculous amount of money required to complete theses superfluous speciality courses.
I fly fish, this is also a continuous improvement persuit. Learning how to outwit a wily trout with a clutch of feathers and synthetic fibres trapped against a hook. Casting a fly line is an art unto itself. I often find myself observing the experienced older anglers. Effortlessly casting their entire line with very few false casts. It's all about technique in this sport.
And then, my current primary passion and focus. Fitness and Nutrition.
Over the last few years, I have experimented with various exercise regimes and nutrition methodologies. Some have worked, some have worked better, some have been a down right waist of time.
Unfortunaltely, like any good mathematician, I am inherently lazy. And I have not kept a logbook or record of any of my activities. The only progress measure I have is the face that stares back at me from the mirror. I have not even been dilligent in loggin my dives, which will affect me detrimentally when I need to prove I have the requisite dive time for a Dive master Course..
As of today, I Shal be mainting this electronic log.
It will not be specific.
It will be an accretion of all aspects of my life.
It will document my progress on my road to success. Success in life.
This is my Life Log.
